CAD Integration & GIS Conversion Support Services of West Winder Bypass

Georgia Department of Transportation

The Georgia Department of Transportation initiated a project to widen and reconstruct the West Winder Bypass, located in Barrow County, GA. The project involved widening 4.97 miles and incorporating approximately 176,000 square yards of concrete paving.

Evari was contracted to utilize an enterprise GIS database solution for converting stormwater structures, conveyances, and post-construction structures into GIS format. The task included creating a database to manage these assets and developing a web application to facilitate quick updates and changes to the stormwater system by ERS.

The project turned out to be larger than anticipated by ERS, with 850 assets requiring updates for attributes such as structure type, material, structure shape, and invert depth. However, the multiuser capability of Evari’s enterprise GIS enabled several individuals to make concurrent updates through a user-friendly web interface. The accurate data conversion, robust database system, and user-friendly web application provided by Evari allowed ERS to deliver the stormwater data on schedule.
