Sidewalk Inventory

The City of El Monte, California

Evari executed a detailed survey of 250 miles of El Monte’s sidewalks, supporting the City’s Vision Zero Action Plan to reduce pedestrian-involved traffic accidents in collaboration with KTUA. They utilized AI and GIS fieldwork for data collection, analysis, and visualization, enhancing real-time insights via WebGIS. The project entailed thorough identification of sidewalk issues and integration of findings with precise GIS data, including curb ramp categorization. Evari’s GIS team, using tablets, gathered foundational data for analysis, identifying high-collision areas, bicycle and pedestrian incident hotspots, and proposing safety countermeasures. This analysis also compared local collision data with statewide statistics.

Beyond the initial project, Evari has continued supporting El Monte with GIS services, including a trilingual ArcGIS StoryMaps website for project tracking and real-time resurfacing updates. Additionally, Evari developed GIS tools for city inspectors to monitor and document sidewalk repairs, ensuring updated information is available on the City’s public website.
