Citywide Lighting Plan
The City of Austin, TX
Evari is currently performing a thorough lighting review and analysis to enhance the City of Austin's outdoor lighting systems. Evari conducted thorough QA/QC measures of the City’s streetlighting, parks, and trail lighting databases to ensure accuracy and provide data enrichment on aspects such as wattage, luminaire type, and pole context. With this, a GIS-based photometric analysis will assess existing light levels and identify deficiencies. A critical component of the work will consist of spatial analyses (including crash history, crime data, and environmental impact areas) which will help identify prioritization areas requiring lighting improvements. Evari is providing Austin an in-depth review of the city's lighting character areas, developing maps that outline lighting deficiencies across various neighborhoods of interest.
With an emphasis on community engagement, Evari will develop an online survey and coordination of virtual and in-person meetings to gather public input and educate stakeholders. The team will support the City of Austin with organizing public workshops and lighting demonstrations, facilitating advisory committees, and preparing materials to communicate project goals. Additionally, the team has been tasked with creating a prioritization framework to guide future lighting investments, considering factors such as public safety and community needs. Evari is expected to develop infrastructure scenarios, cost analysis, and policy recommendations to ensure sustainable and efficient management of Austin's outdoor lighting systems.
